Two of us were helping a mutual friend, Mark, move into his new houseboat. The other guy kept peering at my Mooney Caravan tee shirt, then finally got up the nerve to ask, "How did you get into those beliefs?" He clearly thought that it had something to do with Rev. Moon and the Unification Church. So I baited him with vague comments about "how it takes me to new heights of understanding." Finally Mark intervened before it got too wacky, "He's pulling your leg. A Mooney's just a brand of AIRPLANE."

" Wow, a Mercedes AND an airplane ! The autoparts business sure must be good. ...this from a guy who buys a NEW $40,000 4x4 pickup every 2 years, has a $45,000 travel trailer, a $15,000 Boat and trailer, a $15,000 snowmobile and trailer. My used 7 year-old Mercedes cost 14,000 and my Mooney 30,000. I've had them both for about 6 years.

My wife's cousin, an FAA controller, said, "You can always tell a Mooney because there are two radar returns." Oh, how? "There's one for the airplane and one for the pilot, about a mile behind."

Last week a guy at work asked me if my Mooney has a G-meter for use while doing hammer-head stalls.

Medical student on trip to rural clinic in the 79 Mooney 231...."Oh, what a cute antique airplane".....Do they make planes smaller than this?

I had just finished bragging to a visiting friend that I was (then) a new, proud owner of a Mooney when a small plane could be heard flying over. Her baby, whom up to that point had hardly said anything other than "goo-goo ga-ga", pointed up into the early evening sky and cooed "Moooneey Moooneey Moooneey." I was amazed that this kid might already be demonstrating the ability to distinguish different makes. I looked up to confirm -- she was pointing at the moon.
