Travel & Adventures

Reed Prior's "backwards" around-the-world trip. Well told, well-illustrated, even if he diplomatically skipped the details of his last leg.

Flemming Pederson's Honey Mooney page, with many tales of international flying.

A more benign trip around the Olympic Mountains, told in photographs by your webmaster.

Andy Allen's New York-to-San Diego trip from 2000 is well-profiled here, including the mechanical work to prep for it.

Margrit Waltz describes her job as an international ferry pilot, with some special Mooney twists.

Chris White's tour of the Mooney factory, from March 2006.

Mooney Caravan to OSH

Each July, just before the opening of EAA Airventure both brand B and Mooney pilots organize a group fly-in to Wittmann Field in Oshkosh, WI. Typically, both arrive on a Sunday afternoon.

The first few years, the group was religious about documenting the trip in photos, reports and videos and we've captured those links here:
-- The Caravan Photo Archive, covering 1997-2000
-- Detailed accounts and pictures from Mooney Caravan 2000. These pages include links to Jim Murphy's audio files recording radio traffic on the the taxi, departure, enroute and arrival portions.
-- And there's always the Mooney Caravan site itself for detailed procedures and current information.

Mooney Videos

We've lost a few over the years, as people have moved domains or eliminated video files but there's quite a collection on the Mooney Junction site. The most-recent videos are at the top -- and we'd be happy to add other links:
-- Don Kaye's arrival at Oceano, CA (warning: 22M)
-- Jim Murphy's video of a Mooney landing on frozen Alton Bay, NH. During the summer it's a seaplane base but no Mooneys have been spotted in the summertime.
-- Peter Wordsroth's video of taking off (heavy) from a rough 3,300' dirt strip on an Australian outback cattle station.
-- Stan Protigal's M20C taking off from Port Angeles, WA and flying alongside a Mooney 252 (with gear down)
-- Approach and landing at Paine Field (Everett, WA), with a Boeing 777 fresh from the factory there awaiting takeoff (64 seconds).
-- A 91-second clip of an ILS into Port Angeles, WA in IMC
-- An 86-second PG-13 video + audio of a rough landing at Langley RWY 34 (on Whidbey Island) that almost resulted in a crash.
-- Local TV coverage of Mooney Caravan 1998 by Madison TV station 27. The plane in flight at the end is N252AK, which met its demise in 2003.
-- A Mooney meeting its untimely end in a movie stunt.
